Harness The Power Of The Sun

At Forster Solar and Lighting, we offer a wide range of solar panels and inverters from mid-range to top of the range.

Some of the solar panels we prefer to install are Winaico, Aiko and Trina to name a few. All of these panels incorporate cutting edge technology to produce a high energy output. Not only that—panels can come with fantastic warranty! Some on the market are now offering a 25-year product warranty.

No good solar system is complete without an inverter - the powerhouse behind the entire operation. Which is why we supply and install industry-leading Fronius and Sungrow inverters. Both these modern inverters come with a ten-year warranty.

Do you have trees surrounding your property? Enphase Micro-Inverters allow each solar panel to run individually which means that if some of the solar panels are shaded the rest of the system will still preform at its full potential.

  • Are all solar panels made with the same materials?

No, solar panels can vary in materials, construction and cell technology, which all affect performance and durability. Most use silicon-based photovoltaic (PV) cells, but there are differences in purity, structure and layering. Panels may also differ in frame materials (aluminium or steel), glass type (tempered vs standard), and the backing material that protects the cells. These differences can impact output, efficiency, lifespan and resistance to weather or corrosion.

  • What’s the difference between monocrystalline and polycrystalline panels?

Monocrystalline panels are made from a single, pure silicon crystal, giving them higher efficiency and a sleek black appearance. Polycrystalline panels are made from fragments of silicon melted together, which makes them slightly less efficient but more affordable. Monocrystalline is often preferred for homes with limited roof space due to its superior power output per square metre. Both types are durable and effective, but the right choice depends on your goals, space and budget.

  • Can solar panels still generate power on cloudy or rainy days?

Yes, solar panels can still produce electricity on cloudy or rainy days, but at a reduced output. Light still reaches the panels through cloud cover, though performance may drop to 10–30% of typical production depending on cloud density. Some high-quality panels perform better in low-light conditions, making them ideal for areas with variable weather. While rainy days won’t eliminate generation completely, consistent cloud cover can impact overall system yield over time.
